Chimei Museum is the southern counterpart of the National Palace Museum in Taipei – but instead of Chinese, its collection focuses on European artifacts. The impressive collection ranges from fine art, antique weapons, stuffed animals and fossils to probably the most extensive collection of musical instruments in the world. Chances are that if you wanted to play an original Stradivari violin, you would have to borrow it from Chimei.
The whole collection was put together by a private businessman with the help of a large team of professionals for the planning, construction and realization of the museum. We played our part in developing the visual identity and signage system. A complex way finding system with an extensive range of pictograms was designed. We developed a broad variety of orientation, information and warning signs, which can be found everywhere from the museum interiors to the vast surrounding park and access roads.
